Our School
Carlton Digby School is a special school for children and young people aged 3-18 with a broad range of difficulties. We are committed to delivering the best possible education to ensure that our young people are prepared for their future and they reach their full potential. We foster the vision and ethos of 'Together We Achieve' throughout our inspiring and aspirational school.
We provide highly specialised and personalised education for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan across the Gedling Borough and Nottinghamshire.
There are currently 95 pupils on roll who are taught in 12 classes, led by experienced and dedicated teachers. Pupils are well supported in their learning by a team of highly experienced teaching assistants and personal care assistants, midday supervisors, administration and facilities teams. Our pupils are based in teaching groups according to their needs and loosely according to their age. There are currently three cohorts of learners, focussing on pre-formal, informal and semi-formal teaching. Within the informal and semi-formal cohorts there is an additional Preparation for Adulthood cohort.
We have carefully tailored our curriculum offer to meet the needs of our changing profile of school. We have designed a bespoke curriculum to meet the needs of all young people who attend our school. Alongside this, there are a wide range of interventions and therapeutic support that are crucial to supporting the work that we do to ensure the needs of all young people are fully met.
We benefit from a fantastic, fully accessible, purpose built school, opened in 2012, with plenty of space for all the young people who attend our school. We have numerous specialist teaching rooms, including food technology, art and technology, science laboratory, hydrotherapy pool, soft play and a fully immersive sensory room. Our outdoor space is well equipped for our young people to be physically active and develop important social skills and communication skills. We view every moment in school as a learning opportunity.
Our school has a fantastic local community and we aim to be as involved as much as we possibly can to support and learn from those close to us. We volunteer in the local area and are proud of the work that we do. We have litter picked and supported the clean up of a local scout hut. We also have pupils who access a variety of work experience placements in a care home, nursery, café, foodbank and in school to support their preparation for adulthood in the local area.
