Letter to parents 20th March 2020
COVID-19 Pandemic Parent Update
20 March 2020
Dear Parents and carers,
Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding during this extremely difficult and unprecedented time.
Following our communications with you, we are anticipating 10 children of key workers to attend school, from Monday, plus a number other targeted pupils. If you fall into either of these categories, you will receive a separate letter with this information. We anticipate that we can safely meet the needs of this group of children on Monday.
The overriding message you have given to us is that you just want clarity over whether or not to send your children to school.
At today’s meeting of Nottinghamshire Special School Leaders and the Local Authority, concerns were raised about the number of highly vulnerable pupils still attending special schools. This is despite national Public Health England guidance, which states that vulnerable people with underlying health conditions are strongly advised to stay at home.
Our first role must be to limit the spread of this virus, whilst protecting you and your children and our staff and their own families. To do this we need as many children as possible to stay at home.
I must reiterate that if your children can safely stay at home, they should do so. Schools are only to be open for the pupils who absolutely need to attend.
